The Economics of EXPO 2017
Hosting EXPO 2017 will be a chance to bolster and broaden
Edmonton's economy. Edmonton's business community is ready to make
it happen. It's an incredibly exciting chance to make a statement
about the strength and potential of our city and province, and the
value we can offer the world's investors. Hosting an EXPO will
stimulate our economy in many ways, the most obvious of which will
be through the substantially increased business activity leading up
to and during the actual execution of the event. There are also
uncountable long-term business opportunities that will become a
permanent part of our community's economic fabric, not to mention
that of our northern partners.
The business communities of Edmonton, Alberta and Canada will be
highlighted during EXPO, but it will also be a chance for diverse
countries from around the globe to share ideas. EXPO will create
and staff a welcoming and easy access Global Business Hub to foster
and support business relationships between Canada and the countries
attending EXPO. Furthermore, EXPO 2017 has massive potential as a
venue for discussing how the global economy could be evergreened.
That's a conversation we want to be in the middle of and engaged
in!
Our city has a terrific reputation as a host for world-class
events. EXPO 2017 will attract an even higher level of interest
from the global business community, allowing the Edmonton business
community to provide people and businesses from around the world
with a much better idea of the who, what and where of our city. To
be chosen as host, a community and its business leaders must
demonstrate their capability on many fronts. Being selected as host
for EXPO 2017 is an opportunity to illustrate that Edmonton is a
business location ready to handle what the world has to offer. It's
also a wonderful chance for the local and regional business
communities to integrate themselves even more fully into the global
economy.
It's a big, busy, competitive world out there, and hosting EXPO
2017 will allow us to tell as many people as possible around the
world that Edmonton is a great place to do business. This event
will enhance Edmonton's reputation as a great northern city and a
strong global business partner. It will create opportunities for
connecting and establishing new international business
relationships that will endure for decades.
EXPO 2017 will be a major event in Edmonton's cultural and
economic history. One that will bring the citizens and businesses
of this great community together to demonstrate to the world how
proud we are of our city and the opportunities that it
represents.
